Hype#

A lot of well deserved hype prior to the race. The variety of cars and talent rivals anything anything in ALMS short of those few years when European Le Mans teams traveled to US races. Next year we might see an Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR-LMH.

Social Media#

Social media is fragmented and different groups have cropped up around different platforms. Participation rates are low but chances of interacting with a human are high.

Other Coverage#

Live streams leave a lot to be desired. Face it, no one will recapture the magic of Magnus After Dark stream from pitlane.

IMSA Radio (Radio Le Mans) continues to provide the excellent coverage and NBC does a good job. Haters abound and don’t remember the Grand Am days when this race wasn’t covered for 24 hours.

Takeaway#

All in all a good race that was close at the finish. Some folks don’t care for the full course yellow (FCY) but it adds an element of strategy to road racing that has historically been an oval race thing.

While the media package isn’t perfect it’s far better than the Grand Am days of the early 2000s. Likewise social media is fun during the race but not a must have “feature”. I’m not sure that in 2025 its even an effective way to spread the word.

Overall looking forward to the 2025 IMSA, WEC and other endurance races.
