We are currently using two major technologies and a handful of minor ones to support this site. First off we are running the site on the tumblr SAAS package. This has several advantages over traditional sites in that it not only solves hosting issues but also provides native integration with other social media sites. Chiefly we’ve chosen it because of accessibility including mobile device and smart phone app compatibility.
Our second major technology is twitter. What began as a 140 character update to your friends and some quick LULZ has become a serious channel for information delivery. However it can only function this way if utilized correctly. Through the careful selection of gatekeeper sources and the creation of topic lists users can quickly consume vast amounts of targeted, relevant information. The goal of @raxhaven is to not only disseminate original content to syndicate important items that are in the spirit of the site.
Lastly, we will be using the open source CMS product Joomla as our archive and historical record site. Previous incarnations of this site relied solely upon this technology which served us well. However with new and ever changing social media coming online it has become increasingly irrelevant as a primary channel for reaching warm bodies (readers).

In Internet terms The RAXHaven is very old. The concept of this website has been around for nearly 16 of the web’s 20 years. Though it was dormant for the last few years it has now returned to retake its place in a very different world.
The idea of The RAXHaven is not that it is merely a webpage, but an ever evolving commentary of life in the digital age. It, like its author, have aged and matured however the site still represents a lifestyle of information workers around the world. We didn’t simply choose this profession because it was easy, or because we could make a lot of money. We chose to do what we do because deep inside we’ve always loved it and we are good at it.
If I were to say that my true calling was to work in IT then I would also say that writing about technology, for better or worse, is my passion. This website has always been a place where I could comment freely on news and issues while pulling no punches nor sparing no feelings. Much like my long time favorite automotive commentator Peter M. De Lorenzo and tech journalist John C Dvorak I offer you the unvarnished high-octane truth. No apologies.
That said, i also cover other topics including what I like to call my analog life. I do this for a lot of reasons but primarily to show that not all IT people are boring and that we do some pretty cool stuff when we aren’t “fixing computers.” So sit back , grab a cold beer and hang on for the ride!
